Alongside the purpose of cleaning the Pasig River, the organizers also hope to beat the Guinness Book of World Record for the largest footrace in the world. Before the race, it was said that there were 160,000 people registered for the event. It will be determined by an auditing firm if the actual runners beat the record of 110,000.
The runners came from all walks of life, who ran for different reasons, but they all have high hopes to save the Pasig River for the next generation. Even Manny Pacquiao spent a day off from training for this cause and gives the crowd a boost when he hosted the 10k race along with Piolo Pascual and Dyan Castillejo.
It is important because we have to take care of our environment and Mother Earth. This is why I support this run. We need to unite and clean the river. If we work together, we can do it.said Manny Pacquiao on an interview.
They raised about 10 Million Pesos or more than 230grand. Half of the money will be used for cleaning up the Estero de San Juan behind MalacaƱang Palace.
