You might find the nickname "Killer Shrimp" funny but British Scientist are quite alarmed to grave extent about the dangers of these shrimps on their waters.
We are devastated that this shrimp has been found in Britain,” said chief executive of the Environment Agency, Paul Leinster. “We are currently establishing the degree of the problem, and whether the shrimp is only in Grafham Water or if it is in nearby lakes and the Great Ouse as well. The authorities speculate that the shrimp penetrated their waters via Danube River. According to initial evidences, these foreign shrimp are indigenous to waters between the Caspian and Black Sea. And unfortunately they chose the native shrimp as their main target for killing. These "Killer Shrimp" is said to grow as large as 30mm in length and feared to be an effective predator for the poor native English Shrimp.
