The Quirino Grandstand Hostage Crisis

August 23 was my husband's birthday and my mom's as well. That day also marked the hostage crisis at Quirino grandstand that took 8 lives including the hostage taker. There have been confirmed reports that Filipinos were being backlashed by their employers in Hongkong to date. But the POEA said it was just an isolated case and Filipinos working in Hongkong are "still" safe and sound. Yeah, it was a clear-cut evidence that the Quirino grandstand incident showed the inability of the PNP to take down just one man. Though police admitted that they weren't trained in such situations and lacked proper equipments.
Maybe it's just me but I think, admission of incompetence was a stupid thing that the PNP did. Sending high-delegations in China to explain what happened during the hostage crisis is another mistake. The Philippine government should have been standing on some grounds. Let the people of the world know that we condemned what happened to those Hongkong nationals, that we greive and mourn for the lives of those people, nevertheless it shouldn't be taken far south. It could happen anywhere in the world.
It isn't fair to generalize the Filipinos. Personally, I think China went too far by declaring tourism ban against the Philippines. It was just one incident for crying out loud! As a friend told me, "China is making a mountain out of molehill."
