I've never met a stranger and enjoy meeting new people
Said Mills on her contestant biography. Women from over 100 countries participated in the contest and 18-year-old Mills will take over duties from last year's winner, Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar.
Tall and blonde Mills, just recently graduated from high school and wanted to be a teacher, according to the Miss World Website.
Emma Wareus from Botswana bagged the second place and Adriana Vasini of Venezuela came third.
China's contestant Tang Xiao, also made it to the magic five.
It is the 60th anniversary of the Miss World Competition, and past contestants were brought back to add a retrospective theme to the event.
